Local people have their say
14 September 2005
Reducing crime, giving more support to families and creating local jobs are some of the top issues to emerge from the Department of Housing's Community Renewal consultation process across the State.
More than 1000 community-minded people participated in Community Renewal’s eight-month planning process in nine renewal communities.
Residents, government workers and community leaders worked together at various planning workshops, sharing ideas on how to make their communities safe, valued and proud.
They came up with more than 50 ideas and 400 possible projects. Community Renewal staff are now working with government agencies to kick-start many of these projects.
Community members can get involved in developing local projects in Community Renewal zones by contacting their local Community Renewal office.
