Working together is at the heart of many Community Renewal initiatives. Sharing knowledge and learning from others can often deliver the best results for a local community. Below are Community Renewal initiatives residents, councils, government departments and community groups have worked on together.

Mooroobool and Manoora community get-togethers

The Cairns West Community Renewal team hosts regular community get-togethers in Mooroobool and Manoora for local people to come together and discuss the local issues in their area and hear about Community Renewal activities. Community meetings are held every month in the two suburbs. Eagleby Wetlands Reserve

Eagleby Wetlands ReserveFeel like getting back to nature? The Eagleby Wetlands Reserve is located next to the Albert River and features walking tracks, bird hides, picnic tables and a natural amphitheatre. The wetlands are part of an ongoing rehabilitation program by local people to preserve the natural environment. The wetlands host many volunteer activities, including a bird watching club, community nursery and bushcare group. Loganlea Guide Hut

The Loganlea Guide Hut is becoming a popular community meeting point after its recent $100,000 renovation. Guide Queensland members, community groups, church groups and the local high school now use the hut to conduct their activities. Women and girls aged from 8 to 36 can join the Guides. Caboolture Housing project

Community Renewal is working with key groups in Caboolture and Deception Bay to find local solutions to homelessness and affordable housing. The Caboolture Housing Project is a coordinated effort to look at ways of helping people who face homelessness, or need emergency accommodation. Wallace Street North Park Upgrade

How do you create a community park? Caboolture East residents are finding out just what is needed, together with Community Renewal and the Caboolture Shire Council. The partners are looking at options and designs for a $100,000 upgrade of Wallace Street North Park, Caboolture East. Inala Skate Bowl

Inala skate bowlA state-of-the art skate bowl is Inala’s latest place to be for the town’s vibrant youth population. Young people helped design the skate bowl, which is highly popular with skaters, bmx riders and bladers. The skatebowl is located at the family-friendly DJ Sherrington Park, on the corner of Inala Street and Blunder Road, Inala.

A positive Beenleigh project

Roving reporters are taking to the streets of Beenleigh to report on the suburb’s strengths and its people. Local school students will be collecting local stories and compiling them on a DVD. For more details, please contact the Community Renewal Gold Coast North team on (07) 3287 8571.
