Community Renewal in Carole Park

Community Renewal began in Carole Park on 1 July 2004. Carole Park joins the renewal area of Inala to form the Brisbane South West renewal zone. Renewal activities will occur across the Brisbane South West zone until 30 June 2009.

What’s happening now

Residents, government, community and business are working together to develop a Renewal Zone Plan, which will be a blueprint for Community Renewal activities in the Brisbane South West zone.

About Carole Park

Carole Park is home to a culturally diverse population, and is a largely industrial area. The area was originally inhabited by the Jagera and the Turrbal Aboriginal people. The suburb was named after the daughter of one of the early landowners, the Blacksell family.

Australian Bureau of Statistics 2001 Census figures show the Carole Park renewal area has a population of 1,910 with 472 families. Over one third (35.9 percent) are aged under 15 and 37.7 percent were born overseas. About 28 percent speak languages other than English and the Indigenous population is 8.6 percent.
